Solar Electric car team : The Beginning

Who are we? What do we do? How it all started? What was the need? What we aim for? 

We are a group of passionate engineering students from Vidyavardhini's College of Engineering & Technology. Here at VCET SOLECTHON we design and manufacture Solar Powered Electric vehicles, contributing to a sustainable and pollution free environment. 

 It all started with two boys thinking out of the box and regular syllabus. It was their imagination that led to formation of the team. While most of the students just wondered of working in a student driven team, our former Captain and Co-founder Mr. Mitesh Sawant with Mr. Mahendra Solanki stepped ahead with their firm idea of building SUSTAINABLE AND EFFICIENT VEHICLES.

Assembling a group of passion driven students we began our journey on 19th of September 2017. Since then we have been designing, manufacturing and innovating our vehicle every passing year. The initial members formed the pillars on which the team stands today. Students from different branches came together and entrusted their believe in the idea of BUILDING the IMAGINED.

Different events organized all over India and Asia provides a platform to the enthusiastic teams to compete in dynamic rounds and present their business models on international level. Some of such events are NSVC ( National Solar Vehicle challenge) and ESVC ( Electric solar vehicle challenge) 

In the very first season of the team we participated in NSVC 2018 and won the BEST DRIVER AWARD.

 Team has been responsibly handling all the technical and non technical matters since then with the enormous contribution of hardworking and dedicated members. 

It has been 5 years now since the formation and we have been continuously climbing up the ladder of success. Learning from the past faults and adding up new innovations to the car like the Autonomous/ Driverless feature, we finally won NSVC 2020!

After having a victorious achievement at NSVC 2020, this year we aim to build a vehicle capable of running 200+ kms/day. We are aiming to participate in ESVC 3000 where vehicles would rally from Delhi to Pune covering a distance of 2000+km. This would be a great leap for our team, as this event would be held for the first time in Indian history of Solar cars challenges.
